Josh (Lucas Till) lives the fast life. He is the most popular DJ in New York, and spends his nights performing and partying hard. But after an accidental drug overdose he is sentenced by the court to live out the rest of his underage year in the custody of his estranged father in the small town of Paragon, North Dakota. He is quickly enrolled in the local high school, where he intends to keep a low profile. His plan is crushed when he is recruited by Mary, the captain of the schools struggling dance team, to mix the music for their routines. When the team wins their first competition in seven years on the strength of their new DJ, Josh starts to consider that life in a small town may be less of a sentence than he first feared.
