Right now, it is THE must-visit destination for food lovers. Presenter, Adam Liaw believes that Scandinavian food is the Western equivalent of what Japanese food is to Asia delicate, refined and artistic. Destination Flavour Scandinavia explores the traditional foods of the region as well examining its journey to become what is the most dominant creative influence in food today. Across 6 episodes viewers will be treated to the spectacular landscapes and culinary delights of Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Adam meets a parade of famous chefs, cooks and providores and cooks classic Scandinavian dishes, learn traditional cooking methods but also providing his own spin on the central themes found throughout Scandinavian food. Ive been fascinated by Scandinavia for as long as I can remember. As a kid it was this wintery wonderland of kings and queens on the other side of the world, straight out of a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. Even as an adult, its hard to escape just how much of an impact Scandinavia has on our lives. Our houses are full of Scandinavian furniture, we buy Scandinavian high-street fashions, and we read Scandinavian novels. Even the days of our week are derived from the names of old Norse gods. But it wasn't until I visited here for the first time a few years ago that I fell in love with the food. Food in Scandinavia mixes traditional comforts with a contemporary elegance that is as much a social movement as it is a style of cooking. New Nordic cuisine is a barnstorming influence on modern food.
