Yvonne Kenny’s Simple Gifts is a recording phenomenon. ABC Classics is delighted to present a limited edition reissue to celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary. Simple Gifts was the first-ever Australian produced Classical album to receive Gold Record status; it won the 1995 ARIA Award for Best Classical Album; and received rave reviews throughout the international press.

The premise was simple: Kenny’s uncle Murray asked his internationally famous diva niece why he didn’t make a recording of things he liked. The result is an album that incorporates opera arias, sacred works and folk tunes – an album of touching treasures.

The album includes a special tribute from ABC Classic FM’s Christopher Lawrence, who describes “the simple artistry, makes these old tunes sound like new material.”
