Iconic Australian singer-songwriter and ARIA Hall of Famer Richard Clapton is this year celebrating the 40th Anniversary of his debut album, and to celebrate, the label and the company most synonymous with his work over the years – Festival Records and Warner Music – proudly present the deluxe multi-disc Richard Clapton set Best Years 1974-2014 / The 40th Anniversary Collection. Released August 8, the collection coincides with the much-anticipated publication of Clapton’s memoir, entitled The Best Years of Our Lives, through Allen & Unwin.

Comprised of 3 CD’s and a DVD, Best Years 1974-2014 / The 40th Anniversary Collection features nearly 4 hours of classic Clapton recordings spanning his whole career, alongside, for the first time on DVD, the legendary 1988 concert film ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’. The DVD shows the power of the artist as a live performer, and features guests including Jimmy Barnes, Vanetta Fields and Jon Farriss and Garry Gary Beers from INXS. The 3 CD’s cover the length and breadth of Clapton’s oeuvre in 50 songs and includes the classic hits like ‘Deep Water’, ‘Girls On The Avenue’, ‘Goodbye Tiger’, ‘Capricorn Dancer’, ‘I Am An Island’ and ‘Down In the Lucky Country’, as well as other fan favourites, deep album cuts, non-album singles and a few unreleased tracks, including a 2006 co-write/demo with Kerryn Tolhurst of the Dingoes, and a 2014 co-write/demo with current guitarist Danny Spencer – a brand new song called ‘Strings & Wood’. The lavishly packaged set features remastered sound, and includes numerous rare images and liners notes from rock critics Toby Creswell and David ‘Dr Pepper’ Pepperell, and long-time industry friend Philip Mortlock.
