Drowned Alive - David Blaine survives 8 days completely submerged in a tank of water with only a tube for water, air, and nutrition. The event culminates when he attempts to break the world record by holding his breath for 8 minutes and 58 seconds while freeing himself from a pair of handcuffs. During the stunt Blaines skin gradually started to break down and he suffered liver failure. Regardless, he survived and successfully emerged after 8 days under water.
Frozen in Time - In Frozen in Time, David Blaine tests his endurance by being completely encased in a massive pillar of ice. The stunt began on November 27, 2000, and concluded when Blaine was removed from the ice after enduring 63 hours, 42 minutes, and 15 seconds. Blaine did not wear any protective clothing and survived only by a tube that delivered air and nutrition. After the stunt was completed and Blaine was sawed from the ice, it took him over a month before he was able to walk again.
3. Vertigo - Following the success of Frozen in Time, Blaines next stunt involved him being lifted 100 feet (30 m) in to the air and placed on a 22 inch (0.56 m) wide pillar where he stood for exactly 35 hours. Strong winds and icy weather heightened the danger as Blaine was not tethered to the pole and risked serious injury or death should he fall prematurely. Blaine completed the stunt by jumping off of the pole and landing in a large pile of cardboard boxes while people filled the streets of New York to watch.
