Jeanne Macdonald is a celebrated performer who has earned broad recognition and numerous awards for her work in New York City. A recipient of the 2004 New York Nightlife Award and both the 2008 and 2004 MAC Awards for Female Vocalist (Manhattan Assoc. Of Cabarets & Clubs) MacDonald has also been presented with a BACK STAGE Bistro Award, the prestigious MAC Hanson Award and the Julie Wilson Award for her sincere interpretations of the American popular songbook. In his review of one of her live performances, Stephen Holden of the NY Times wrote: "Watching a singer like Jeanne Macdonald, who brings an emotional balance; a subtle, good-humored sexiness; and an originality to everything she sings, makes you realize the crucial role good instincts play..." A regular performer in NYC, MacDonald has appeared in such venues as the renowned Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Metropolitan Room, the FireBird Cafe and the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Annual Cabaret Convention at The Town Hall and at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She has been a featured performer at the Manhattan Plaza Aids Project Benefit with Audra McDonald and Robert Cuccioli and has appeared several times in 'The Amazing Singing Voice: A Celebration in Song,' to benefit the Schein Voice & Laryngeal Center /Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Originally from Freeport (Long Island) NY, Jeanne is a graduate of the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, and her musical education and performance experience includes a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to jazz to musical theater. It was at the Bradstan Country Hotel in White Lake, NY, that she first began performing the intimate, lyrically driven style referred to as 'cabaret.'
