Synthesized by a common theme, these original, easy-listening instrumentals all have a cardiac connection. The melody of '(Baby) Joshua Jones (Anatomy of Our Love)' was composed during the late evening hours during the wonderful routine of rocking gently to sleep his newly adopted infant son, Joshua. Although an instrumental, the song is developing a lyric, beginning with: 'Joshua Jones, though from your start, you weren't flesh of our flesh, nor bone of our bones, you're now completely, one hundred percent, totally all of our heart.' Think of this joy as you listen to this one. (By the way, the heart theme is a very special one for Joshua, since he had open-heart surgery when just 11 days old. His heart is now as normal!) The celestial sounds of 'Stellar Calm' will quiet your heart as you embark on a mental odyssey through the expanse of the universe, claiming the peace of it's Creator. The mood of 'Gone From Me Now' expresses the grief of a broken heart from the loss of a relationship. 'Wish You Were Here' arose from the heart's longing for the presence of loved ones in their absence. The thought creating the song 'Jesus, I Love You' is Ken's belief that no other song of the heart matters more than this one, which enriches everything else. His work as musician and youth minister at his church give avenues of expression for these life-changing matters of the heart. This CD ends with a gift from his heart that Ken gave to his school's students where he is a 4th grade teacher. He dedicated this song to his school's Media Specialist, Minnie Witherspoon. Her heart is in her work as seen in her dedication to the students she serves. Minnie guided the school's Accelerated Reader program and encourages and rewards reading. This song was written to give students at his school who earned more than 100 points for reading a song to proudly parade through the school halls, while their peers cheered them on; the A-B-C song provides the thematic melody for this march song for readers. Truly a heart gift! MORE ABOUT THE CHAMBERS IN THE HEART OF THIS MUSICIAN ... One of Ken's challenges in life is to give balanced attention to his wide variety of interests, skills, and involvement, in addition to his song writing and recording (which he has done in his home recording studio with his Yamaha PSR 740 keyboard, his Fender Stratocaster guitar, and his computer). A part-time Music Minister, a full time public school teacher with a great love for science and social studies, a first-time father of Joshua, his adopted infant-turned-toddler-Pre-K-er, he has juggled these with his role as a student himself, having completed certification as Media Specialist recently. He's been told he probably inherited a deep love for music from his grandfather, who played piano by ear. Ken is also self-taught on both guitar and piano, with contributing help from friends, of course! He attributes much of his music education to what he learned in public school and through his church choir membership growing up. Throw in a Little Rock and roll from the 60s from when he and his brothers, a neighbor, and a friend organized their first band and called themselves the 'Hypnotics' from Palatka, FL. Today he continues his rock roots as the leader of his oldies group Little Dab and the Do Ya's (remember Brylcreem?) and helps create a variety of musical moments with his multi-age group he calls Et Cetera and the Swingin' So Ons, playing mostly for his south Georgia Clinch County's annual Timberland Jubilee. 'Simply His' are the beautiful and haunting melodies of songs of conviction; 'Simply Hers' are the songs he wrote for his wife, Beth, describing their courtship and marriage; 'Simply Yours' is a collection easy listening instrumentals in a variety of styles.
