A time that must never be forgotten

Set in the heart of China during the depths of World War II, Back to 1942 stars Adrien Brody as an American journalist trying to make sense of both a devastating famine and the Japanese invasion. Along with Tim Robbins crusading priest, he comes to believe that maybe the two are more closely linked than it first seems. Forced to flee his home in Henan, kindly landlord Fan (Zhang Guoli) takes his family on a treacherous journey South to the relative safety and prosperity of Shaanxi province. Fan must make devastating sacrifices to reach salvation, sacrifices that threaten to leave him a broken man.
