When THE PRIESTS released their self-titled debut album back in 2008, they had little inkling of what was about to happen to them. As it transpired, plenty did – huge record sales, record-breaking triumphs and global fame. Three-plus years later, Fathers Martin O’Hagan, Eugene O’Hagan and David Delargy are amongst the most recognized and successful acts in both the religious and secular worlds. To date, they have sold over 2 million copies of their debut album, which sold at such a frantic pace it quickly secured them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest selling classical debut of all time.
In Australia, they have sold over 150,000 units, with just over 80,000 unit of their debut album.
The Priests’ music also benefits others. They take home only a small percentage of their musical profits; the vast majority of their royalties goes into their charitable fund, which helps build schools in places like Cambodia, Uganda and Thailand and is also used to help look after retired priests and the homeless.
Then Sings My Soul – The Best of the Priests is a compilation of The Priests’ most beloved recordings from their self-titled debut album and their second album, Harmony, plus a newly recorded track, “Danny Boy.” It is not only an album of awe-inspiring music, but a celebration of faith, spirituality, tolerance, love and the power of the human spirit.
